8 Curly Hair Tips and Tricks

Hey guys

Sorry it’s been a while but i’m back hope you haven’t missed me to much lol. So this week I am going to talk about my top 8 curly hair tips and tricks that will help you tame your curls and kinks.

1. When detangling your hair make sure to find a good conditioner with lots of slip, a really good one is the Tresemme naturals conditioner (amazing stuff you will thank me). This will really help you when detangling those unruly curls.

2.  A wide tooth comb should be your best friend lol it helps so much when detangling a product with good slip it basically glides through your hair so if you dont have one invest, although some of you may prefer to finger detangle so if that works for you then stick with it.

3. A spray bottle this is a must as we all know that curly hair can be very dry and needs lots of moisture. Well what better moisture then good old water lol. This should be your first step before any of the products go in just imagine your head is like a thirsty plant now what do you do in your garden when you see a dry plant, you water it so the exact same goes for your head.

4. Leave in conditioners they will save your life as they work well on their own or in the loc method (Liquid Oil Cream). Now for those days when you’re in a hurry but you still want them curls to pop, then just spray your hair with water and add a leave in conditioner a really good one which is good for days like this is the Cantu leave in conditioning repair cream this stuff is amazing and very hydrating. I also recommend the Aunt Jackie’s Knot on my watch instant detangling therapy or the Beautiful textures tangle taming leave in conditioner. Guys I expect chocolates after you buy these lol.

5. This next tip has to be oil or should I say Oils lol believe me you can never have to many. I use coconut oil which is most naturals favourite, but I do switch it up with Amla and Jasmine oil mixed together this is great for rubbing into the scalp when your hair is dry and it helps stimulate hair growth. Also in my deep conditioners at the moment I’m using sweet Almond oil which smells good and has been helping to leave my hair extra soft.

6. Moving onto stylers which can be a cream a mousse or a gel. You can try different ones to see what best suits you, but for me in the summer I like to use a lot of light weight products such as gels and mousse and more heavier creams in the winter because that is when my hair needs more moisture. The one I am in love with at the moment is Design essentials curlforming custard dont worry I will have a review on that soon.

7. Next wearing a satin scarf at night or using a satin pillow case can make all the difference to your hair in the morning test it out if you dont believe me lol you’ll find that in the morning when you sleep on anything cotton or use a cotton scarf that your hair feels very dry. This is because cotton sucks in more moisture and can cause breakage. Now I dont know about you guys but I know that I want long luscious curls so i’ll be keep my satin scarf on my head at night lol.

8. Last but not least protective styling now this is good for them busy curly girls that have long days and need to just get up and go in the mornings. Twists, braids and buns can help keep you from touching your hair too much and causing frizz, it also helps to change up your look, and for my curlies who love their sleep it helps you go to bed quicker lol because you just do a style wrap your head and off to bed.

Anyway guys thats all from me this week hope you liked this, and remember if you have any questions feel free to comment below or email me and if you love me that much and want to see what i get up to when im not hounding you with blogs find me on instagram my name is CECE_YEARWOOD or add me on snapchat its curlycece123.

Love you all

Nunaat Garlic Magic Review

Hey guys

So I have been saying for a while that I would do some reviews for you so here is the first.

Recently I tried the Nunaat garlic magic leave in conditioner and the hair mask. I was really excited to try these because I have heard a lot of good things about garlic in general and we all know that it is a healer so I thought well this product definitely should be interesting.

I started off with my usual weekly routine of co washing my hair, and then went on to adding my garlic hair mask. Firstly it smelt really nice for something infused with garlic although I only noticed after that both products say doesn’t contain garlic scent lol. As I started to add the mask to my hair I found that it wasn’t as moisturising as I thought it would be so I mixed it with some coconut oil and it was much better. I left the mask on for 20 mins underneath a plastic bag and then washed it out. My hair did feel soft but not as soft as usual.

Next I went on to apply the leave in conditioner which again smelt really good, but the texture of it was very watery and very dry. For me it felt like every time I added some it was taking moisture out instead of putting it in. Never the less I carried on and by the end my hair was so very dry and tangled. When I woke up the next morning it was even worst it was like I had not put anything in my hair for days.

Overall apart from this product smelling nice it really wasn’t for me, it just did not seem to like my hair at all lol. But I don’t want you lot to be put off, because what doesn’t work for me may work for you and vice versa. But I just thought I would give you the heads up on what my experience was.

Any way that’s it from me until next week, but if you have any questions you know what to do lol and if you have tried this then I would love to know what your experience of using it was.

Love you all loads

GoldCrush Trial

Hey guys

Back again and this week I wanted to talk about the lovely GoldCrush hair vitamins.

So in May I won a competition with the curly cockney if you don't know who she is check out her youtube channel she's amazing. Anyway I won the competition and was rewarded with a 2 months supply of goldcrush hair vitamins, which I was extremely happy about as I have seen lots of positive reviews.

I've now been taking them for a week and a half and have no complaints. I'm just going to make sure I stick to drinking plenty of water. I have noticed my nails are growing very quick which is a good sign for a nail biter like me, lol don't judge me guys I'm trying and hopefully after this 2 month trial I will not only have a few inches of hair lol but some nails to. I want to say that I can see my hair growing lol but I know it's my eyes playing tricks on me and the fact I'm very impatient.

Some say your hair is meant to grow an inch a month, but not everyone gets that. However in the reviews I have looked at they have shown that the tablets, have helped them grow between 1 to 2 inches which is great a boost for us slow hair growers lol.

Below is a pic so you guys can see my current length.

Hopefully when I post my final review we will see a difference fingers crossed. lol all I want is some curls past my shoulder.

Well guys that's it for now, thanks again for taking the time to read I really am grateful. I'd also love to hear if any of you lot have taken GoldCrush vitamins before or if you have thought about it. Comment below and remember if you have any other questions I'm only an email away.

Luv you all lots

Natural Hair Week Experience

Hi everyone

This week I thought I would talk about my experience at natural hair week.

Firstly if you have never been to a hair event then I recommend you go it’s such a great experience and most of the products are up to 50% off which for a product junkie like myself is great lol. I saw so many brands there from Cantu to design essentials I nearly fainted.

Now not only was it my first hair event, but it was also my first time hair modelling, I was assigned to a lovely hair salon called Ebony B who are situated in Highbury and Islington so if you are looking for a new hair salon then you should definitely check them out the hair stylists take their time and go through each step of what they are doing with your hair. The ladies are very friendly and take great pride in doing their job, which for me was great as I have been lucky enough to have been blessed with a mother who is a hairdresser. So for me I have never had to go to a hair salon before. However there is a first time for everything and I would definitely go again. If you would like to look them up then you can check there instagram which is hairbyebonyb or email them at hairbyebonyb@hotmail.com. Trust me ladies you will not be disappointed. Here was the end result

The event itself had such a positive vibe, and it was lovely to see so many natural women all in one room. I saw various hair types and I have to say that no matter what hair type you are, your hair is beautiful I never realised how versatile curly hair is and how it be can manipulated into so many different styles. The seminars were amazing with so many speakers discussing texture to shrinkage to breakage the list goes on.

As I said before I am quite the product junkie and could not resist buying myself a couple of things. One of my favourite treats was my African scarf’s which you see I am wearing below. Most people who read this and know me will be shocked because there is so much colour lol, but I thought along with new experiences and the lovely summer which I hope we have I would try and brighten up my hair styles. The scarf’s are very well made and come in a range of colours and sizes. Personally I feel the larger the scarf the bigger the statement so it’s great when going somewhere nice. Me being the spender I am lol I bought one in every size.

Moving on to products I got the new garlic hair mask and conditioner from Nunaat, some Cantu conditioning lotion, hairfinity tablets which I am dying to try and last but not least some pure shea butter from Aviela which is good for everything if you want to get some yourself check out their website at www.aviela.co.uk

To top it off I got a bonus from the event, if you follow me on instagram then you will already know, if you don’t then you should its CECE_YEARWOOD. Anyway have a look at what they sent me to say thank you.

If you could have seen my face it was like Xmas had come early lol. Overall I had a really good day, if you want to experience a hair event there is another one coming up which I definitely want to attend. If you want to find out more about the event then check there instagram: witjonline or go to the main website www.uknaturalhairevents.com. Trust me guys it’s going to be good, they have one event in Birmingham which is this Saturday so hurry and get tickets and if you want to go to the one in London that’s on Saturday 13th of June which is where I should be.

Thanks again for reading guys it means a lot to me and i’d love to hear any of your experiences or thoughts about any hair events you have been. Please remember if you have any questions feel free to email me.

Speak soon Love you all

Transitioning

Hey guys

Sorry for the long wait but here goes my first post

So as I said in my introduction I started transitioning in early September 2014. The reason for this at first was because of a friend of mine I loved the look of her hair and was interested at how she managed to maintain it. This is when I decided to set myself a challenge to see how long I could go natural for.

When I was younger my mum never used to leave my hair out in its natural state it was always in braids. As I got older she started to straighten it and leave it out for the day if we had special occasions, but you guessed it after that it was back to plaits. She used to find it very hard to manage as my hair was very long and thick. (guys I basically have enough hair even now to give half a head of hair to someone and still have enough for myself). I think she also used to do it because it was a protective style and it meant she didnt have to do anything with it in the mornings.

Any way back to my challenge, so in September I washed my hair and left it curly added some leave in conditioner and was shocked to see it left in its natural state, everyone complemented me and loved the change. But then came the hard part maintaining it, now i’m not going to lie to you at first I did’nt have a clue at what I was doing. I constantly asked my friend for advice and watched loads of youtube videos, which saved my life. After about two months I began to really enjoy the challenge of looking after my hair and testing different products, which dont worry guys ill be mentioning them throughout my blogs so keep reading.

Since transitioning I have only straightened my hair once since September and that was in February for my birthday (everyone deserves a treat lol). For me that is an achievement especially as I used to straighten my hair once a month.

Along my journey I have felt so many emotions from happy to sad to the fraustrating days when your curls just dont do what you want. But overall I have started to love and embrace my curly hair more and more and havent even looked at my straighteners since. Having my hair curly has also allowed me to see how versatile my hair really is and the amount of texture and volume it adds to my hairstyles. I sometimes cant believe I waited this long but hey I wont dwell on the past, but lets just say me and my curls will be having a happy future together lol.

About my hair

My hair is a type 3c/4a and I find the middle grows slower than the outer part which is so frustrating, my hair is very thick and whenever applying product has to be split into minimum 8 sections so that the products actually reach my scalp lol.

Well guys thats it for now let me know what you think, if you can relate or have any questions. If you would prefer to email me that is fine to.

Speak to you soon and thanks for reading
